M4K DC on NPR!

10 Jan 2010

Our brothers in the nation’s capital topped $40,000 for the Children’s National Medical Center. NPR covered their ‘Stache Bash. Somehow the censors missed references to male bras and pantless Russians. Liberal media: asleep at the wheel.

Congratulations, to the DC gang. You can give them internet hugs here.

Mustaches Making a Difference

1 Dec 2009

Sure, growing a mustache for charity is fun, but we know that sometimes the whiskers get more attention than the philanthropy. In case you need to be reminded about the good that our lip carpets can do, we thought we’d share an email we just received from a teacher whose DonorsChoose.org project is being funded by generous M4K-motivated donations. Inspiring stuff:

I just HAD to look into this mustache thing! I’ve had several donations to my donors choose project (Kindergarten Kitchen – Feeding the Future) and they’ve all been from people with mustaches!! So after some checking I found that many of the people who have donated are associated in some way to your site.  I have posted thank you’s to individuals to have donated, but I wanted to thank the entire site for bringing attention to such valuable and important causes.  I have taught for 8 years in urban settings.  I am used to buying supplies, mittens, food, etc. for the children in my Kindergarten class, so it has really been touching to see that others are willing to donate to “my children” who they don’t even know.  I just wanted to thank those who took the time to organize and set up this site.  I cannot tell you how touched I am that people I’ve never even met care.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Rebekah Schultz

The Debunker #2

3 Nov 2009

Our ongoing series of myth shattering continues…

Myth #2: My workplace will not approve of my Mustache.

The Debunker says: What, are you a lipstick model? Unless your job has specific grooming restrictions (and if they do, why the heck are you still working there?), your colleagues and managers are sure to see your Mustache as a demonstration of your creativity, individualism, and community-minded spirit. Tell everyone you’re growing “outside the box”. People love anything that’s “outside the box”. So much so that “outside the box” just may be the new “inside the box”. If you actually try to use any sort of box metaphor, just make sure you talk long enough to confuse/bore/upset your audience. You might also mention that HR approved your ‘Stache, so any objections might lead to legal action.

Mustache Photobomb Contest

28 Oct 2009
stache bomb

Right place. Right time.

Announcing the First Annual Mustaches for Kids Photobomb Contest. Growers–send us your sweetest bombs and we’ll post them here. Just don’t make any enemies. Remember, you’re M4K ambassadors and this is a charity for kids. That said, the idea of ruining/enhancing a photo with your sweet ’stache is an idea that has legs. Or whiskers.
